Privacy policy

This policy explains what personal data August Moon collects, why we collect it, who helps us handle it, and how you can control it. We wrote it to be read, not skimmed past. If anything is unclear, write to us and a person will reply.
1. Who we are
augustmoon.in is run by August Moon Private Limited (CIN U47912HR2026PTC151849, GSTIN 06ABHCA0128J1ZX), registered office Unit No 309-A, 3rd Floor, SAS Tower-A, Sector 38, Gurgaon 122001, Haryana, India. In this policy, "we", "us" and "August Moon" mean this company.
For the purposes of the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 ("DPDP Act"), we are the Data Fiduciary for the personal data described here.
2. What we collect
We collect only what we need for the purpose you came to us for.
- When you join the waitlist: your name, email address and/or mobile number, whether you want updates on WhatsApp, the page and campaign link you came from, the date and time, and the version of the consent you gave.
- When you place an order (once ordering opens): your name, delivery and billing address, mobile number, email address, what you ordered, and payment status. Card, UPI and bank details are handled by the payment gateway. We never see or store them.
- When you contact us by email, WhatsApp, phone or the contact form: your name, contact details and what you tell us.
- When you write a review: your name as you choose to show it, your rating, your words and any photos you add.
- When you register a product (once this service opens): your order number, the phone or email used at checkout, where you bought your set and, only if you choose to share them, the design and how you heard about us.
- When you browse the site: technical data such as your device and browser type, approximate location (city level), pages viewed and the link that brought you here, collected through cookies and similar tools (see section 8). Our sign-up forms also run a bot check that looks at basic browser signals.
3. Why we use it

We do not sell your personal data. We do not use it for anything you would not reasonably expect from the list above.
4. Who helps us handle it
We share personal data only with service providers that help us run August Moon, and only what each one needs:
- Shopify: our online store platform (orders, customer accounts, site hosting)
- Supabase: our customer database, hosted in Mumbai (waitlist and customer records)
- Email and WhatsApp providers: to send the messages you asked for (WhatsApp is run by Meta)
- Google Analytics: site usage measurement
- Cloudflare Turnstile: bot protection on our forms
- Judge.me: product reviews
- Payment gateway and courier partners: once ordering opens, to take payment and deliver your order
- Zoho Books: invoicing and accounts
We may also share data when the law requires it, for example with tax authorities or in response to a lawful order.
Some of these providers store or process data outside India. Where they do, they are bound by their own security commitments, and we will follow any restriction the Government of India places on such transfers.
5. How long we keep it
- Waitlist and marketing details: until you withdraw consent, or 24 months after your last interaction with us, whichever comes first.
- Order, invoice and payment records: for as long as GST and accounting laws require.
- Messages and complaints: for as long as needed to resolve them, plus the period the law requires.
- Security logs: at least one year, as the law requires.
When we no longer need your data, we delete it or make it anonymous. Where the law requires it, we will tell you at least 48 hours before we erase your data.
6. Your rights
Under the DPDP Act, you can:
- Ask what personal data we hold about you and how we use it
- Ask us to correct, complete, update or delete it
- Withdraw your consent at any time. Reply STOP to any message, use the unsubscribe link in our emails, or write to us. Withdrawing is as easy as giving consent. It does not affect anything we did before, or any order you have already placed.
- Nominate someone to exercise these rights for you in case of death or incapacity
- Raise a grievance with us (section 9) and, if you are not satisfied, complain to the Data Protection Board of India
To use any of these rights, write to info@augustmoon.in. We may ask you to confirm who you are before we act, so that nobody else can see or change your data.
7. How we protect it
We use encrypted connections (HTTPS) across the site, limit who on our team can see customer data, keep our accounts protected, and work with providers who follow recognised security practices. No system is perfectly secure. If a breach affects your data, we will tell you without delay and report it to the Data Protection Board as the law requires.
8. Cookies and analytics
Cookies are small files your browser stores. We use:
- Essential cookies from Shopify, which keep your cart and the site working
- Analytics cookies from Google Analytics, which show us which pages people visit, so we can improve them. We do not send your name, email or phone number to Google Analytics.
We do not currently use advertising cookies or pixels. If we add them, we will update this policy first. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. The site will still work, though your cart may not be remembered.

We will acknowledge your complaint within 48 hours and aim to resolve it within one month.
10. Children
Our site and products are meant for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 18. If you believe a child has shared their details with us, write to us and we will delete them.
11. Changes to this policy
We will update this page when the way we handle data changes, and change the date at the top. If a change affects how we use data you have already given us, we will tell you directly and, where needed, ask for your consent again.
